TN50#186_Speed Up To Speed Up 2025_30 December_2024

Hi Team,

2025 in 3, 2, 1, LET’S GO.  I have another end of year exercise option for all you folks planning to join me in 2025 and, like me, running your own business.  And yes, I do think it would be ironic if I die on 31 December 2024 right after this blog posts but hey there are no guarantees as we all know and going out ironically ain’t the worst way to go.

Happy Monday and welcome to The Next 50 #186. I like to think of personal performance in 3 components: physical, mental and emotional.  My framework focuses on 4 Buckets: Eat, Sleep, Move and Think.  This blog is my sandbox for sharing information that you might find useful for your personal performance.

If you asked me how I stumbled on to the Tropical MBA Podcast 6 years ago I’d give you the elbows bent, hands at shoulder level, shoulders shrugging, blank stare – I have NO idea – look.  But man, o man, I have really enjoyed listening to it weekly ever sense and I’ve learned a lot.

I even tried to join their community, the dynamite circle, but got turned down by some snotty nosed intern who informed me they had to many coaches in the community at that time…

Alas, I have had to make do with their free content, which is great.

Anywho, the fellas, Dan and Ian, just spent a boat load of money going to a 3 day Scaling Up Workshop in some crappy castle in Spain with the Scaling Up author, Vern Harnish, as lead.

And as best I can tell this last episode of 2024 podcast shares the 10-Questions for 2025 exercise that they did as part of their workshop.

What’s really cool is you can sit down with a piece of paper and answer the first 9 questions as you listen to the 27-minute pod; IF you’ve built out a lot of the fundamentals of your business.  It you haven’t built out the fundamentals, this exercise will definitely get you moving in that direction.  The 10th question, 25 people who can help you in 2025, took a bit longer than the time it took Ian and Dan to explain what the drones over the east coast are really about but it’s also the most valuable question to answer of the whole exercise.

Here’s the list and my answers:

  1. Priority, next 90 days? High Quality Leads
  2. What are the 3 big numbers I will track? Revenue, Leads, Actual Conversations with New People
  3. Do I have a daily huddle? No, but I’m going to make a daily huddle outline that I review daily as a solopreneur.
  4. What are my 3 Brand Promises (2x measured, 1x qualitative)? M1=proven results, M2=science backed systems, Q1=First Principles Performance Coaching is always here to help
  5. What is the “soul” of the business? 2 things: High Performance starts and ends with the basics & A relentless pursuit of better
  6. What is the job to be done? Make Better Basics Performance accessible and executable by any and every adult ready to do the work
  7. 10-Year Ambitious Goal? Impact 10,000 people with Better Basics Performance
  8. What is your moment, why is my service important now? The entire population of the United States is as unhealthy as it has ever been
  9. What are my company values? Love – Sense of Humor – Patients – Consistency – Curiosity – Relationships
  10. 25 People who can help me with my business in 2025? I won’t share my list here but I do have some shareable thoughts on this question:
  • The concept of asking for help brings up a lot of resistance in me, EVEN THOUGH I tell people to ask for help all the time
  • It’s crazy that I know who I know; my friends list includes some ballers from all walks of life
  • The list is already past 25 and will probably be in the 30’s before the end of the year
  • If you hope you’re on my list please let me know, because of course you are

Alright, obviously I didn’t expound on context for any of these questions, so listen to the pod for a bit of that.

And just like last week, if you come up with some profound insights, please let me know as I’m looking for 2025 to be a profound year as well!

2025!  Let’s GO.

Who do you know that could use this information? I bet you can think of a couple of people before you click the next email, please share the post with your team and anyone who might find it useful and let me know what you think!

Have a good one,

Alex
