TN50#197_let them, LET ME_03 June_2025

Hi Team,

June is here, May seemed to last about 1 decent breath hold and was gone.  TEAM RACEY has officially ended the school year, which is now a multi state event!  We’ve also survived our our annual 2400 mile round trip journey to S. Padre Island Texas and back with all children accounted for and only one relatively uncomfortable sunburn.

One of the THINK focal points in my Better Basics Performance (BBP) coaching program is, Recognize Useless Thoughts.  The book I now recommend for those who want to take a very up to date and practical deep dive on this concept is the subject of this here blog.

Have you read or listened to the book, The Let Them Theory, by Mel Robbins and her daughter, Sawyer Robbins?  “Why? How good is it?”, you ask.  It’s so good, it’s 4.6 stars with 17.6K reviews on Amazon good, it’s tons of people getting the title tattooed on their body good.

Some of you may be wondering if I’ve been under a rock or something as this is the first thing of Mel’s I’ve consumed, I actually audibled it, Mel read the book personally; she has a great voice and is very easy to listen to; others of you may be like me and have heard the name but never consumed any of Mrs. Robbin’s content.  If you are in the “heard the name” camp and you are looking for an easy reading/listening book for the summer that still packs a punch, I’d recommend this book.

The Let Them theory is simple: Stop wasting your life on things you can’t control.  Is this a 2025 problem or what?  Well actually it’s been a problem since Eve ate the apple, people have been writing about this since people started writing; and I’m sure that will continue (gosh – I guess I’m doing it now).  What Mel Robbins has done here is simplified billions of words written into 2 – Let Them.  And it works great as a thought or even a mantra, try it now.  Think back to the last thing that made you mad; this shouldn’t take long.  Here are some examples if you need one: red light camera, someone being rude, realizing you are out of coffee filters when you really need coffee, unexpected rain, the IRS.  OK, got one?  Good now just say it out loud – “Let Them”.  Before you even read the book you can get value out of this super simple mental redirect.  You’re welcome!

The most impactful part of this book is hidden under the bright green splashy cover and is what I really found powerful.  The “LET ME” part.  Understanding and implementing the LET ME part of the Let Them Theory is where you will really make hay with this concept.  Dialing in the “Let Them” part of the theory frees up a lot of wasted mental energy and time; the “Let Me” part gives the reader a road map on what to do with all that freed up capacity – this is the part that will really change your world and the world of those who interact with you for the better.

Please share this with your friends!

Have a good one,

Alex
