TN50#201_What’s Happening: FPPLLC – Racey Performance Update_21 October_2025

Hi Team,

Happy Fall and welcome to TN50#201.

We have frost warnings here in Castle Rock and snow storms in the mountains!  October in Colorado is in full swing.  The temperature and the color of the leaves aren’t the only things changing in my world and that is what this article is all about.

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF):

I have a new community!  It’s live and you can get in on the ground floor at the ridiculously low price of $10 a month.  Yes, I’m asking for just a little bit of buy in and promising that you will get way more than 10X your $$$, in the months and years to come.  If you want to skip the rest of this blog (or pause it) and dive into the Team Racey Performance community ABOUT page click here!

Still here?  Sweet!  Read on.

For the last 40+ years I’ve been playing in the Performance Improvement Space as a practitioner!  Starting as a scrawny 12 year old try to win BMX races at the local track in Winchester, VA.  My Uncle Phil, a Vietnam Vet, set up a training program that involved riding my bike as fast as I could, about a half-mile, down Poorhouse Rd. to a big driveway for Q102, doing a bunch of push ups, then riding back home and doing more push ups.  If memory serves he wanted me to do 3 laps and I don’t think I ever did more than one lap; but that training did make me faster on the track and a better Jr High Basketball player.  Fast forward to 1985 and 10th grade when I was introduced to weight lifting in Advanced PE with Coach Sheppard at JWHS, I’ve been in the weight room in some form or fashion ever since.

For 25 of those years, 1991 – 2016, I actually had a very high performance job in the US Army.  From 2/75 Ranger Regiment to I Corp LRSC to 82nd Airborne Division LRSD to the Army SMU; life was grand and all the personal performance mistakes I could make were made!  AND a lot of good decisions in the personal performance space were also made or at least figured out.

AND finally, for the last 7+ years I’ve been helping people make small and BIG changes in their physical, mental and emotional capacity as the head coach and founder of First Principles Performance Coaching.

All that to say, I love helping people improve their personal performance, and almost everyone I speak to is skipping some really important components that I summarize as – The Better Basics.  I think this is so important that it’s the title of my 3 month coaching course – Better Basics Performance.

One thing that has been hit or mostly miss is regular interaction with all my people.  So who are my people???  If you are reading this, you are one of my people – at least in my book!

Now, if I’m working 1.1 with you I obviously spend a lot of time with you.  And if you are on this mailing list; a lot of you interact with my blogs and emails but that is hit or miss and one way comms for the most part.  And if you are people from my bigger world: old clients, buddies from the military, folks from school or friends from church or the many gyms I’ve spent time in, we aren’t in community – in any real way.

A broader more active community is something I’ve wanted to sort out over the last couple years.  I tried to build out a community on a platform that had a lot of bells and whistles but ultimately it beat me down on the tech side of life and I wasted a bunch of money and time trying to figure it out.

Last month, Alex Hormozi prompted me to check out a new community platform called SKOOL, the platform is simple and it has plenty of capacity for a community with regular daily interaction including live calls at the push of a button.  What I couldn’t do in 18 months with my first service provider took about 2 days to get set up (all be it basic so far) on the SKOOL platform.

So IF you are a regular consumer of The Next 50 email/blog or past client/friend and you think it would be cool to have access to ME and a lot of people like US daily on the platform and on live video weekly for all the reasons that community matters check out Racey Performance for more details.
